Captain Ernie is one of the most photographed people in the Quad Cities/WOC TV 6 viewing area. He made hundreds upon hundreds of special appearances and of course appeared on approximately 3,000 Captain Ernie's Showboat shows. During these appearances and on the show itself, proud parents would take pictures of their children with the Quad City icon himself.
Lori Ekstrand Garlock just joined an elite group of heroes on the Captain Ernie website by producing one of the few pictures that has come forward! This one is of her on a portion of Captain Ernie's risers which the kids would sit on during the show. Would you like to become a Captain Ernie hero as well? Ask around, thousands of these pictures are in old photo albums around the Quad Cities and WOC/KWQC viewing area. Ernie would love to see them again and so would we!
THANK YOU LORI!!!!!

Oh my! What fun your page was! I know we used to go on Captain Ernie for our birthdays ALL the time! I have photos of us on the risers and in the waiting room, I thought I had one of me and the Captain. I will have to look again! One of my fondest memories is that on one of our many visits, I got to be the one to say "Here come the Three Stooges!"
10/30/2007 ... I searched all over my mom and dad's house this weekend and this is the only photo I can find right now. The best one of me and Ernie posing in front of the Dixie Belle is missing! ERRRRRRRRR!
This is my 4th birthday Nov. 1967. I am 3rd from the left or right, actually...flowered dress, white collar (Lori Ekstrand Garlock) next to me is my friend, Mark Rinehart (red shirt) and behind us is my uncle (Chris Saldivar)..the big kid in the jeans and blue shirt, dark hair.
None of the others was with us. The only other pic I found was us waiting in the "green room" but it is nondescript and it just looks like any other room.
Have a great day~
UPDATE 04/15/2008!!! ... Hi,
I found another picture from another birthday spent on the show! This would be my 5th birthday November 1968.
Row one: Michael Wickersham, Jay Ekstrand
Sadly, I still cannot find the best pic I have. It is of the Captain and I in front of the Dixie Belle.
