| | Sheriff Steve - Thanks to Phil from Dubuque![]() Bill Grubbe was the one that KCRG-TV (Channel 9) tried to make into a competitor for Marshal J when they used him as Sheriff Steve on weekday afternoons. He worked for us at KMRY doing an afternoon air shift, and readily admitted his time as Sheriff Steve was nothing in comparison with Jay on Channel 2. By the way, his name - Grubbe - is pronounced GROO-bee. I never knew him to use William - it was always Bill. The picture appears to show him in his Sheriff Steve cowboy hat. Rick Sampson | |||
| | KCRG had a puppet-based Sunday show, it had a piano playing and singing dog, it was called Kidsville, USA. I remember the piano playing puppet dog host (he wore a sloppy porkpie hat) banging away to the tune of "Yessir that's my baby." The words went" "Time for fun and laughter, if its (?????) you're after, Time for Kidsville USA." The puppet did a lot of singing and they also featured a singing puppet, which was just a close up of an upside down mouth with eyes and a nose drawn on the chin -- and a blonde wig. I have never seen anything of that show, I doubt anyone at KCRG would remember.- Thanks to Phil from Dubuque | |||
| | Captain Jet - Thanks to Phil from Dubuque Very special thanks to Matthew Cody! - I am sending you what may be the only promo sheet still in existence to "The Captain Jet Show" that aired from KWWL in Iowa. My father is Robert J. Cody, (aka Captain Jet), and with the exception of this promo sheet, which I "liberated" from my Mother possessions, most of the remaining memorabilia, was tragically lost in a basement flood. I am proud of my father's history, and would love to add this image to your collection.
Thank you ![]()

| | 1-2-3 (Dolph Pulliam)![]() ![]() I noted that you listed Dolph Pullium from Des Moines, he was a great basketball player with Drake in the late 60s. They darned near won a national title with him. He also is one of the very few African American children's show hosts, although he came along later in the genre. - Phil from Dubuque | |||
