MR. QUICK HAMBURGERS WASHINGTON, ILLINOIS

NOW HAROLD'S

Special thanks to Alan Morton for this picture of Harold's taken in 2007.

07/23/2008 ... Hello,

I recently stumbled on your site and was reminded of my early childhood (early 1970s) in Sunnyland, Il. I have many memories of eating there year long but especially on long summer Saturdays. After seeing your site, I decided to visit the restaurant again (currently Harold's Hamburgers), this time with my own kids. As you indicate, the place is a step back in time, floor tile, counters, pendant lights, even the entrance doors are original! And the best part, the multi-colored tile counter front—which as a child I took great detail of being at a young, small height—was exactly as I remembered it 35 years ago. What a blast! The owners have taken great care to keep it as spotless as the day it opened. At our nearby school, we kids would climb the sliding board, stand up and get very hungry at the site of the Mr. Quick sign in the near distance. Although the sliding board and the sign are now gone, it's great to see a site like this which can bring it all back.

Much thanks.

Bill

Here are a couple of photos: note the original sign hooks and florescent lights!
