Sandy's East Alton location was Sandy's number 66 in the chain's history. It was located at 510 W. St. Louis, East Alton, Illinois. This grand opening ad appeared on 09/28/1963. Special thanks to Phil from Dubuque!

I was looking at satellite maps about a week ago when I was poking around on Windows Live Local. See anything MISSING in the Alton pic? The arrow on the map was in the wrong place, so I was looking around trying to find a Sandy's...I think I found where it WAS!
While driving around looking at other former Sandy's sites, East Alton wasn't too far out of the way, so I took a few shots of the "Invisible Sandy's." In several of the shots, you can see where all six of the wooden beams were secured to the ground, and the floor tile is still there! At one point, I could almost imagine standing there at the front counter, ordering a Big Scot....I thought it was interesting that next door to this "invisible Sandy's," is a restaurant that has Hardee's written all over it. It appears that when Hardee's took over, they decided to build a whole new building next door instead of on the Sandy's site.
