Here is a photo of the Sandy's in Marion, IN from the Cactus yearbook. Not sure of the year though and the photo is credited to the Marion High School Cactus.

I worked at Sandy's in Marion around 1970.
A friend of mine and I decided to apply for a job there when I was 16 and he was 17. On our first night - a Friday - our boss was an assistant manager (Dave Bell) who was having some problems with the rest of the crew. During the middle of our shift (8ish) all the employees working that night walked out and quit. All, except my friend Mike, and me. I have no idea how we did it, but the 3 of us survived and finished the night. I worked the register, while Dave worked the grill. Mike went back and forth, wherever he was needed most. When we returned to work the next day, my friend and I were rewarded with 15 cent per hour raises form our "loyalty." We weren't necessarily loyal, but more self-preserving.
Anyway, I worked at Sandy's for approximately 10 months before leaving for a higher paying job. I learned a lot about working a "real job" at Sandy's, and enjoyed the experience.
